WINEMAKERS COMMENT
Regent produces excellent fruit for red wine enabling us to produce a hot climate red in our cool northerly climate. It is particularly well suited to organic growing as it is very resistant to powdery mildew and partly resistant to downy mildew and requires only 2 or 3 sprays instead of the usual 8.

We hand pick only the best bunches for this red and then de-stalk and crush and ferment 'on-the-pulp' for 10 days. The wine then undergoes a malo-lactic ferment to convert the harsh malic acid to the softer lactic acid before transferring into the classic barrique oak barells for 4 - 6 months for the traditional oak maturation. Very slightly sweetened with addition of 1.6g/l sugar as red Triomphe grape juice prior to bottling.

TASTING NOTES
Excellent vintage. Juicy, fruit driven, deep purple colour with ripe damson, plum and morello cherry on the nose. Light to medium -bodied flavour of black cherries and raspberries, soft supple tannins, enhanced with oak complexity.
