WINEMAKERS COMMENT
Regent produces excellent fruit for red wine enabling us to produce a hot climate style of red in our cool northerly climate. It is particularly well suited to organic growing as it is very resistant to powdery mildew and partly resistant to downy mildew and requires only 3 sprays instead of the usual 8.
We hand pick only the best bunches for this red and then de-stalk and crush and ferment ‘on-the-pulp’ for 10 days. The wine then undergoes a malo-lactic ferment to convert the harsh malic acid to the softer lactic acid before transferring into the classic barrique oak barells for 7 months for the traditional oak maturation.

TASTING NOTES A ripe, smooth and full-bodied red from this superb vintage. Non-chapitalized and matured in barrique oak barrels. Smokey, fruity aromatics. Robust blackcurrant, raspberry and cherry fruit palate with ample tannin. Quite complex.
