Competition Winners
Congratulations to our two lucky competition winners: Mr M Ryan from Northumberland, and Mr R Sier. They are the winners of our competition to guess how many bottles in a single pressing from our 1912 antique cast iron and oak basket press situated in our vineyard shop.

Both will be receiving 6 bottles of Sedlescombe organic English wines as their prize! Both guessed the same number, but it was not exactly the correct answer. Consequently the prize of 12 bottles will be shared between the two winners. The competition will continue next year and until someone gets the exact number.

2009 Solaris Special
This years Solaris grapes were the ripest grapes ever harvested at Sedlescombe. Coming in at 94 oechsele, this represents over 12% vol natural alcohol!!
So as to maximize the length of time the crushed grape juice has in contact with the grape skins, a determining factor in increasing the bouquet in the finished wine, we used dry ice at minus 70C to cool the pulp down so as to prevent early onset of fermentation which would otherwise be detrimental to wine quality. Look out for this wine next year! We will be entering it into the UKVA Wine of the Year competition for non-chapitalized wines (i.e. wines made without the addition of sugar).

Finally, from all at Sedlescombe Organic Vineyard:
