Do-it-Yourself: The 3-week House
Sounds unbelievable, but we did it! Together with several volunteers and a group of students on a Self-build training course we built our Walter Segal inspired 3-bedroomed chalet bungalow here at Sedlescombe Organic Vineyard in just 3 weeks during September 1987.
Vineyard visitors can see the house as well as a display of photos taken during the construction as part of the vineyard & woodland nature trail. The house construction used an unusual 'post and beam' method and was written up in the Architects Journal at the time and also featured on local TV news.
